Playa Quemada

We would recommend you visit this beach on a sunny day. Obviously, a beach day sounds better on a bright than a cloudy day. However, for taking a photo or getting an impression of the beauty of this place, you need the sun. Without it, it looks just grey and abandoned.

Black sand beach Playa Quemada

The sand is very dark, but the beach is not very special. However, it is the only black-sand beach that is easily accessible. If you are driving along the southern coast, make a quick stop. The inhabitants of the small fishing village are making up for it not being the most stunning beach with their kindness. One more advantage is that you won’t find an overcrowded beach here, ideal for a quiet day. Be careful; the dark sand is hotter compared to white-sand beaches.

Facilities

If you are visiting this beach, you should bring something to drink and eat with you. It is a really tiny fishing village, so there are not many restaurants and bars.

Accessibility

Playa Quemada is quite easy to acces. There are no dirt roads here, and the road that brings you there is even named after the beach: Carr. Playa Quemada.

Facts

The canary islands are often associated with black sand. However, most of the beaches here consist of golden sand. Playa Quemada is one of the few black-sand beaches on Lanzarote!
