Black sand beach Playa las Malvas

Playa las Malvas is located on the western side of Lanzarote. Therefore, this area is made up of volcanic soil, and the beach has black sand. The black sand contrasts beautifully with the azure blue sea, making this one of the most picturesque beaches on Lanzarote. It’s a dirt road that brings you here, so you need a good car, and it might take a while to arrive. Nonetheless, it is worth the trip! Because of the rugged western coast, it is not the ideal location for a swim.

Facilities

Be sure to bring enough water and food with you because there is literally nothing here. No restaurants, bars, or supermarkets. Because it will take a while to reach this beach, you cannot easily visit a place for food and drinks.

Accessibility

This hidden beauty is not so easy to reach. You have to drive on a dirt road which is really bumpy for around 5 kilometers, so you definitely need a good car. Still, you can not drive faster than 10 k/h, so it takes a while.

Facts

The canary islands are often associated with black sand. However, most of the beaches here consist of golden sand. Playa las Malvas is one of the few black-sand beaches on Lanzarote!
