Mirador del Rio is a viewpoint located in the most northern area of Lanzarote. You have beautiful views over the coast of the island, Famara beach, and over the small neighboring island La Graciosa. Cesar Manrique built some kind of earth house at this viewpoint, where you can find his architectural style: white stones combined with black lava stones. You can drink coffee here while you enjoy the beautiful views. Or you can climb to the top where the actual viewpoint is.
If you only want to visit Mirador del Rio, you must pay 10 euros. However, you can buy combination tickets if you are interested in visiting more of Cesar Manrique’s creations, such as Jameos del aqua or Jardin de cactus. For example 29 euros for 4 locations, or 23,50 for 3 locations.
Mirador del Rio is easily accessible by car. However, if you want to travel by public transport, you should take a bit more time and be aware that you have to walk for a while, upwards.
You can take bus line 9 that brings you from Arrecife all the way up to Ye, but you have to walk for half an hour uphill from there. Another, more expensive option is a taxi. You can also book a tour of this highlight, but we recommend you rent a car.
Mirador del Rio is open from 10 am till around 17 pm.
We are Maury, Dave and Zoë. We love to explore the most beautiful locations in the world and capture everything for you!
