Jameos del Agua is located in a volcanic tunnel created by the Corona Volcano’s eruptions. Cesar Manrique was the architect who made a natural attraction of this place. He used a unique architectural style: combining white stones with black lava stones. Here, you can find a beautiful clear azure-blue swimming pool. However, no one is allowed to swim in it.
Furthermore, you also find a naturally formed lake where you can find really tiny albino lobsters. This is the only place where you can find these unique animals. These lobsters look like sparkles in the water from a distance, so you have to come quite close to see that they are actual animals.
If you only want to visit Jameos del Agua, you must pay 10 euros. However, if you are interested in visiting more of Cesar Manrique’s creations, you can buy combination tickets. For example 29 euros for 4 locations, or 23,50 for 3 locations.
You can reach Jameos del aqua easily by car, there is a large parking place there. However, suppose you don’t have a car and are not really in the mood to go on an organized tour. In that case, you can also easily travel by public transport, especially on weekdays. Line 9 is going from Arrecife up north and will stop at Jameos del Agua.
Jameos del agua is open from 10 am till around 17 pm.
